On Saturday, January 22, 2022, a new Moose Lodge was instituted in the State of Wisconsin. The Capital City Moose Service Center Institution Ceremonies were held at the Madison Eagles Club. A wonderful ham lunch was served with a delicious dessert buffet. Following the luncheon the Institution Ceremony installed the first all-female Lodge Board with Carol Meier as President, Vickie Drager as Vice President, and Bernice Norton as Secretary/Treasurer. The following Committee Chairs were also installed Membership Committee Chair- Lynn Laufenberg, Community Service Chair- Janice Kilby, Family Activities and Sport Committee Chair- Teri Jo Goelke, and Auditing Committee Chair- Linda Wren. There were 45 charter members in attendance. Many dignitaries were also on hand to help celebrate this most auspicious event including: Sandy DeSotel, Moose International Board of Directors – served as Installing Officer & Enrolling Officer, Harry Johnston, Past Supreme Governor – served as Acting President, and Gordon Dailey, Moose International Director of Business Operations– served as Installing Sergeant-at-Arms. Congratulations on this huge accomplishment. This new lodge would not have been possible had it not been for the dedicated members of the Madison Woman of the Moose Chapter 291, your vision has been realized through your hard work.

Hello everyone! Hopefully you attended our WMA conference in Stevens Point. A super time was had there. Great sessions were held, great social time, and great friendships. The membership group, myself, Renee LaPoint and Mike Wixom all cannot say thank you enough for your participation at our fundraising bake sale, TV raffle, were great success. Many ideas to help our association grow were reviewed at both areas. We all need to remember that growth at our lodges and chapters as well as our association IS our future.
Again like last month I’m asking all our lodges and chapters to think about your members now on fixed incomes and how we can help them stay members thru some type of program, whether it be a payment term type item or reduced senior cost to the lodge offset to full payment to international. Other members may also be in situations that could use some Moose Family help.
The glaring item that came out from the membership session presentation was number of application’s in so far this year. Our fraternity apps is bleak to say the least.
As has been said numerous times “ Just-Ask” that’s all it takes, you cannot enroll a member without asking them to join! Ladies and Gentlemen we need to commit to growth for our association and fraternity. Get with your boards and membership committees and plan your attack on growth your lodge and chapter.
Again thank you everyone for all you do.Any questions or suggestions please feel free to ask myself,Renee or Mike not only your questions but  also your suggestions.

Sincerely Yours in Moose Friendship,

Dennis Dost – WMA Membership Co-Chairman

The West Bend Moose Lodge has been handing out over 3,000 FREE Community lunches since March 18th. All lunches have been provided by donations from the lodge members and members of this community. They have pulled together and keep making amazing donations of  money, food, bags, baggies, gift cards and so much more! Volunteers come each week to make fresh Turkey and Cheese or Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for all the lunches, and get the lunches together in lunch bags for the lunches! Our lodge runs completely on volunteers! I have the same volunteers that come each week to give their time to be sure this program survives and keeps going. Donations also have been made by the Full Shelf Food Pantry and BSA 762 and Girls BSA 6762!!!!

Lunches are handed out Thursday and Fridays from 11-2pm!

Families, elderly, disabled and group homes are among the people receiving these lunches. We have had pictures drawn for us, Cookies baked and even slippers made for us just to say THANK YOU!!! How amazing is that!

It is that time of year again we need talk about nominations for the 2020-2021 moose year. This year was very exciting with the WOTM joining the association this has opened the door to so many talented individuals.  This is the first election in which WOTM can officially be nominated for positions on the District and State board, how exciting is that !!! With the WOTM I am confident and excited to see all our board and chairman positions get filled this year.  Only together will we be able to make district 4 the 2021 top district  !

Below is a nomination form that you can fill out to indicate any board/chairman positions you would be interested in being considered for. If you have any questions on what each position is responsible for below the form is a list of each position and their duties and as always please feel free to reach out to any district board member or myself (aboivin00@gmail.com) with any questions.

During the first weekend of November I was down in Orlando, Florida but I wasn’t there with my wife and kids to visit the various Disney parks like we have done in the past. Rather, I was in Orlando with almost 700 fellow Moose members for the historic One Moose Town Hall, where we met to discuss the idea of establishing a single membership model that will provide enhanced opportunities for all members of the Fraternity. The Stand As One Committee has spent the past two years developing a proposed “One Moose” framework to unify our organization and the purpose of the Town Hall meeting was to receive feedback from Moose members throughout the fraternity.

The Wisconsin Moose Association was well represented at the Town Hall meeting, but all Moose members now have access to the information presented at the Town Hall and the opportunity to provide feedback and participate in a non-binding online vote. The One Moose Town Hall PowerPoint presentation, as well as answers to Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), have been uploaded to the Moose International website (https://www.mooseintl.org/one-moose-vote/ ) and selected videos have been uploaded to the Moose YouTube channel

After reviewing the available information, I encourage every Moose member to vote on the proposed concept at www.onemoose.org. The online voting portal also allows you to submit comments/feedback to the Stand As One Committee. There will likely be a One Moose workshop at the March 2020 WMA Mid-Year Conference where additional information will be shared and discussed.

I hope to see many WMA members at Mooseheart on December 7th to attend the Wisconsin Tree Lighting Program. This is the longest running annual program at Mooseheart and is a unique opportunity for our members to share a day with the children of  Mooseheart. We especially want to encourage those members who have never  visited Mooseheart before to make the trip. One trip to Mooseheart will ensure that a member never drops their Moose membership.

On behalf of  my family, I would like to wish you and your families a wonderful holiday season and hope that 2020 is a great year for all. As always, thank you all so much for being part of our Moose family. God Bless.

Community Service starts at home, our Moose Family Home. The definition of “Community Service” lists it as a noun meaning – Voluntary work intended to help people in a particular area. Since we are always trying to get younger people involved why not try a generational project. A generational project involves the one who teaches (often the veteran or older person) and the one who wants to learn (many times the younger individual but not always the case) working together to accomplish a common goal. In your Lodge newsletter perhaps you could run an ad like this. Want to learn to knit, crochet, or how to tie blankets, etc.  Bring your daughter, son, granddaughter, friend, or neighbor to our craft night. These handmade items will be distributed to individuals within our community through our partnership with other local community service organizations.

We have held a craft night, quilting bee, blanket tying fest, whatever you want to call it and had very good results. We had young people come along with mom or grandma as well as several guys who brought their wives and then ended up trying blankets and having a really good time. The project no matter what you decide to do is the basis for 2 important ideas. First of all, it encourages young and old to work together to learn how to do these crafts and to be patient with each other while doing so. Second, the handmade item you hold in your hand and the friendships you keep in your heart are what leave lasting memories for you, your friend, and for the community you donate these items to.

Have your lodge and chapter charter a bus for the Mooseheart Tree Lighting. This is an excellent way to show members especially new ones or guests of members what we as the Moose do for our children and our community. We always seem to be looking out of our realm to find things to do when what we need is right under our noses.

So, when it comes to Community Service, it doesn’t always have to make money, it just needs to make sense. Keep up the awesome work and keep sending your ideas so we can share.

Fraternally yours,

Helen M. Kiefer
