From WMA President Kellee K. Chwala
Wow! I can’t believe we are already in November—how the year has flown!
I want to take a moment to personally invite you to one of the most meaningful events of the year: the Wisconsin Senior Portrait Luncheon and Tree Lighting at Mooseheart on Saturday, December 6, 2025.
It is my great honor to serve as your Wisconsin Moose Association President this year, and this event is truly one of the highlights of every WMA President’s term—giving the speech and lighting the tree at Mooseheart.
Mooseheart is an amazing place. Once you visit, you’ll understand why so many of us are passionate about The Moose. We quite literally help save children’s lives every single day.
Guests typically arrive on campus around 10:00 AM. The first stop of the day will be the Fieldhouse for the Senior Portrait Luncheon.
The cost of the luncheon is $20 per person. You do not need to be a member to attend—bring someone who might enjoy learning more about The Moose. Children are welcome. The campus is located in Mooseheart, Illinois (between Batavia and North Aurora).
Following the luncheon, you will have free time to explore the Mooseheart campus. Visiting options typically include the Wisconsin Home, the Arizona/New Mexico Home (as the Wisconsin Home currently has no students), the Bookstore, the Farm, the Mooseheart School, the new Mooseheart Museum, and the Mooseheart Activity Center (The MAC). The final schedule has not yet been released, but we hope to share it soon.
After your free time, everyone will gather at the House of God for the Children’s Christmas Presentations and some speeches. Sometimes the Big Guy in the Red Suit even makes an appearance, and of course, we will conclude the day with the Wisconsin Tree Lighting Ceremony.
Members usually leave campus around 5:00 or 5:30 PM. Afterward, many visit nearby lodges such as the Batavia Lodge, which is right next door, or begin their journey home.
Visiting Mooseheart and meeting the children will help you understand why it is so important to grow our membership. It will help you see where your support goes, and most of all, it will remind you of why you are a Moose.
Thank you for all that you do.
Fraternally,
Kellee K. Chwala
Wisconsin Moose Association President
