Why is it that the old adage “don’t blink” becomes more true each year? Once again, we are all in the early stages of planning for the upcoming holidays. Now is the time to make sure you are attending the Wisconsin Moose Association Senior Portrait Luncheon and Tree Lighting Ceremony. The annual event is scheduled for Saturday, December 6th, at 11:00 am on the Mooseheart Campus.
We look forward to this event as the “jump start” to the holiday season. Nothing warms the hearts of our membership more than seeing what the Moose Fraternity is all about. Stepping onto the Mooseheart Campus invigorates the spirit in all of us.
During the luncheon, we hear firsthand what the graduating seniors’ aspirations are. While on campus, we are able to see the excitement on the faces of the children who will show us around their home. We will be able to tour the newly opened museum. As well as the show-stopping program in the House of God. Think of it as a school program where the band and choirs perform a Holiday Concert! Then, for the grand finale, out on the steps of the House of God, the “lights” are turned on by the Wisconsin Moose Association President, Kellee Chwala.
At your next Lodge membership meeting, ask what your Lodge is doing to participate in this annual tradition? The price of a Coach Bus has skyrocketed. That should not stop participation. Think outside the box. Do you have a member who would be willing to drive a 12 or 15-passenger van? What about a caravan of cars? Has the Lodge talked to other nearby Lodges? Considered a District bus? How can the Lodge offset costs? Are you hosting a fundraiser? What can be done to get the word out to our newer members who have never attended? Do you discuss this event during new member orientations?
We have seen the membership attendance for this event grow over the last few years and are expecting record numbers again this year! If the Lodge or any individual would like to discuss this event, sponsorship, or the cost of the luncheon, please contact us at witreelighting@yahoo.com.
We would like to wish each of you a joyful holiday season and a happy, healthy New Year!
