From Territory #32 Manager Mike Rynearson

Wow, another year has come and gone. Where did the time go? It seems like each year passes more quickly.

As most of you know, we will be moving back into the Great Lakes Region—Region 4. We’re joining Michigan, Illinois, Iowa, Missouri/North Kansas, and Indiana. This region is managed by Regional Manager Gary Beck. I’m confident we’ll continue to excel in everything we do.

Now, let’s address an ongoing issue impacting our Lodges, hindering growth, and upsetting many members. It appears some elected officers and chairpersons have forgotten their duty to maintain confidentiality regarding issues discussed in meetings.

During my recent Lodge visits, I’ve overheard members and officers discussing meeting topics in the Social Quarters. This is unacceptable as it undermines Lodge operations and creates hard feelings within the membership. Officers and chairpersons take an oath to support the Lodge and ensure its growth. By discussing Lodge business outside of meetings with spouses, friends, non-members, and family, they violate this oath and undermine the Board of Officers and the Lodge.

This past year has truly tested these policies. Therefore, all officers will be required to sign an Oath of Confidentiality & General Laws Understanding, which will be enforced. Unauthorized disclosure of confidential information by a corporate officer may lead to removal from office. By signing this understanding, officers agree to uphold the confidentiality of Lodge business and adhere to the General Laws of the Moose.

Incoming officers, take your oath and responsibilities seriously. Collaborate with other members of your Board of Officers and Committee Chairs. To continue growing as a Lodge and fraternity, we must adhere to our General Laws. Officers should lead by example and serve not for personal gain, but to help the Lodge grow and flourish.

As we move forward with this Moose year, we will encounter new changes and challenges. I’m confident you will adapt well. Gary is a good manager, and many of you should remember him. He will join me on Lodge visits later this year, so please welcome him back to the family.

Until next time—take care, be safe, and keep on Moose-ing!
