2017 Mooseheart Graduation and Pilgrim Conferral

On June 3rd, 2017, 19 proud seniors from Mooseheart participated in the 99th annual Graduation and walked the stage to receive their hard-earned diplomas. Although a small class in numbers, the size of their hearts is bigger than the largest classes. Of the 19 that crossed the stage, 3 outstanding young men from the Wisconsin Home were among them.   Being a member of the Wisconsin Moose Association, I sat there with mixed emotions, as these young men made their way to the stage.   I say with mixed emotions because I was proud of them for all of their accomplishments, excited for them as they begin their life’s journey, but also sad to see them leave.

Mooseheart Seniors, Steven Foy, William Clarke III, and Samual Schiller all received various scholarships so that they may continue their education and thus living up to Mooseheart’s motto of : “Enter to Learn, Leave to Serve”. Steven, a resident of Mooseheart for over 3 years, received the Wisconsin Moose Association Scholarship and will be attending Waubonsee Community College. William Clarke III, a resident of Mooseheart for over 3 years, received the Maryland Moose Association Scholarship and will be attending Waubonsee Community College. Sam Schiller, a resident of Mooseheart for over 3 years, received the WOTM Scholarship and will be attending Baylor University. We wish these three young men continued success in the studies. If you ever have the chance to attend this event, I would recommend that you do.  It is well worth the short trip to see the results of everyone that is involved in raising outstanding young men and women.  It is truly a blessing to see the outcome of all of the dedication, hard work, and support that our Association, Fraternity, School Staff, and most of all, all of those amazing House Teachers.   This day was also a special day for three of Wisconsin’s own Fellows.  Tim Phillips from the Janesville Lodge, Ken Neuenberg from the Saukville Lodge and John Buchaklia from the Racine Lodge all received their Pilgrim Degree of Merit during the 89th Annual Pilgrim Degree of Merit Conferral held at the Mooseheart House of God. What an honor to see these fine gentlemen make that long walk to receive their degrees.  Make sure that you congratulate them when you see them and make plans to attend their Pilgrim Presentation Ceremonies!
